Care Certificate Standard 7: Privacy and dignity

This standard focuses on respecting people as individuals by protecting their privacy, preserving dignity and supporting them in ways that avoid embarrassment, shame or loss of control.

What This Standard Covers

Maintaining privacy in personal care, conversations and records.
Promoting dignity through language, behaviour and everyday practice.
Supporting people to make choices about how care is delivered.

Why It Matters

Standard 7 turns values into day-to-day behaviour. It helps staff understand how small actions, attitudes and routines affect a person’s sense of identity, comfort and respect.
