Is the Care Certificate a Qualification?
The Care Certificate is not a formal qualification. It is a set of employer-led standards used to support induction and ensure staff have the essential knowledge and skills to work safely in care settings.
It is also important not to confuse this with the newer Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate, which is a regulated, NVQ-style qualification. This qualification is based on the Care Certificate standards but goes further, with formal assessment and recognition that is transferable between employers.
The Care Certificate itself remains widely recognised across the UK care sector and is often required by employers. It provides a strong foundation for further training and can support progression on to formal qualifications, including the Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate and other diplomas in health and social care.
